Delete your account

How to ask for your Carta Evergreen account and its data to be deleted, what's deleted, what's kept and for how long, and how to delete some of your data without closing your account.

  • 2 minutes

This page is for the Carta Evergreen app on the web, iPhone, and Android, made by Carta.

Ask for your account to be deleted

In the app:

  1. Sign in and open Settings.
  2. Under Account, choose Profile.
  3. Choose Delete account…, read what will happen, and confirm.

If you don’t see Delete account…, or you can’t sign in, email support@evergreen.carta.com from the address on your account and ask for your account to be deleted. Support checks that the request came from you and schedules the deletion, just as Delete account… would.

Your account is deleted 30 days after you ask. You’re signed out on every device straight away, and you get an email saying when the deletion completes. Until then, signing in and choosing Keep my account stops it.

Note

If your company signs you in through its own identity provider, such as Okta, your account belongs to your company. Ask your company’s administrator to remove it. If you own a workspace that other people use, make someone else its Owner first, so their work isn’t deleted with your account.

What’s deleted

  • Your name, email address, login, photo, and phone number.
  • The ways you sign in, such as Google or Apple, and every device signed in to your account.
  • Every workspace only you are in, with its sessions, files, and connected services. Its content is deleted within 30 days after the deletion completes. Backups that hold it expire within 60 days after that.

What’s kept

  • In a workspace other people use, your sessions, transcripts, pull requests, and pages stay for them. They’re shown as written by “Former user”, with nothing that names you.
  • Billing, usage, and transaction records are kept for 7 years, for tax and accounting.
  • Security and log records are kept for up to 6 months.
  • Some account records are kept for up to 24 months after the account closes, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Delete some of your data and keep your account

You don’t have to close your account to delete your data:

  • Delete a session, a file, or a repository connection from where it’s shown in the app.
  • Disconnect a service under Settings › Integrations. That deletes the tokens Evergreen stored for it.
  • Delete your notes in Settings › Memory, or turn memory off.
  • Revoke a signed-in device under Settings › Devices.

To delete everything at once, delete your account as described above.
