The Billing contact on Workspace settings › Billing says who Evergreen bills. Receipts and statements go to its email address, and its address sets your sales tax. Owners, Admins, and anyone with the Billing delegation can change it.

Set the billing contact

  1. Choose Edit

In the Billing contact block on Billing, choose Edit. The first time, the dialog is titled Who should we bill?

  2. Say who you bill

Billed to is A person, with a name, email, and address, or A company, with a legal name, a tax address, and a billing email.

  3. Fill in the details

A company has to give its Legal name. VAT or tax ID is optional. For the address, add the street, city, state or region, postal code, and the two-letter country code, such as US or GB.

  4. Save

    You see Billing contact saved.

A company’s name replaces the person’s on receipts, statements, and the customer record at Stripe. Evergreen can only add funds once the contact has a receipts email, so if Add funds is disabled, check here first.

Sales tax

Where sales tax applies, Evergreen charges it on top of what you add, by hand or with auto-reload, at the address on the billing contact. When you add funds, you see an estimate before you pay, and the charge only goes through if you accept it. See Add funds.

Tax never changes your balance, and it’s returned with the payment if a payment is refunded. It shows in the Tax and Total charged columns on Payments, and on your statements. Whether any applies depends on the billing address. Where none does, the estimate says No sales tax applies at this address.

Note

VAT or tax ID is saved and shown on the page, but it doesn’t change the tax Evergreen charges.

Add or replace the card

Choose Add card, or Replace card if one is saved. The dialog has a Card section and a Billing address section, and Stripe handles the card number. Saving a card copies the address it collected onto the billing contact, and fills in the receipts email from the person saving it if none is set.

If Stripe tells Evergreen the card was removed, auto-reload pauses. See Auto-reload.
